Plebe Training Fall 2012 Ends with Graduation at Marine Military Academy
SgtMaj Kinsley
After four hectic weeks of plebe training, 73 young men that have been referred to as “plebes” since their arrival officially became members of Marine Military Academy’s Corps of Cadets during the fall semester Introductory Training Completion Parade on September 8. During this period, the plebes learned the fundamentals essential to becoming a productive and successful cadet. This was accomplished through classroom instruction as well as physical activity.
Plebe Training Graduation Parade
On graduation day, Saturday, September 8, the plebes ate breakfast with their family members at 6 a.m. Parents then were presented with information from Marine Military Academy’s Parents Organization. At the parade, the plebes, in formation, were marched to the center of the parade field. On command, they affixed the official insignia of the U.S. Marine Corps to their cover. This was followed by the Cadet Battalion Commander leading them in the “MMA Creed.” At the conclusion of the creed, the new cadets were directed to “fall uut” from the plebe formation and join their cadet company for their first “pass in review” as a Marine Military Academy cadet. This officially ended their plebe training.
After the plebe graduation parade , the new cadets were released to their families for a well-deserved weekend off, which normally includes trips to fast food restaurants, the mall and, possibly, South Padre Island. The weekend passed quickly and the new cadets returned to campus by 6 p.m. on Sunday for CCQ (closed all to quarters) and the start of a new phase of their life. Congratulations to all of them for a job well done!
