MMA kicks off 2014-15 school year

More than 100 new cadets will make MMA their new school & home

The boys are back in town!

On Aug. 16, more than 100 young men from across the country and around the world checked in at Marine Military Academy for the 2014-15 school year.

The first day of school at MMA begins Aug. 21, but new cadets must arrive Aug. 16 while those who are returning must arrive the following day. MMA expects to have a total headcount of 270 at the start of the school year. For new and returning cadets alike, MMA will be both their school and home for the next nine months.

Of the new cadets, at least half of them will be classified as “plebes” and begin Introductory Training as soon as they check in. Plebes, or new cadets who did not attend MMA Summer Camp, must go through four weeks of training before becoming official members of the MMA Corps of Cadets.

Whether a young man is a plebe or full-fledged cadet, the routine at MMA is significantly more demanding than an average day school. Click to learn more about a typical day at MMA.
