Granbury HS MCJROTC Visits Marine Military Academy

granbury hs mcjrotcGranbury HS MCJROTC Unit visited the Marine Military Academy for their annual training visit from 24 February through 28 February.  The group arrived on Friday afternoon and got themselves settled into their barracks in anticipation of a busy 3 day training period.  Approximately 50 cadets made the trip led by their Senior Marine Instructor, 1stSgt Rositas.  This marks the fifth year that Granbury HS  has conducted their annual training at the Marine Military Academy.

 

 

Saturday for Granbury HS MCJROTC

Granbury HS MCJROTC had to contend with weather putting a delay on their planned rapelling and zipline events however they were able to take on the Pugil Stick training and indoor COPE games inside of King Gym.  They also had an opportunity Saturday afternoon for Granbury HS to visit the Iwo Jima Monument and Museum.

granbury hs MCJROTCOn Sunday the cadets took on the Paintball Course  and the Obstacle Course in the morning and then to the MMA tower for rapelling and zipline training .   Cadets received instruction in harness wear and then practiced on the ground training station before ascending to the top of the tower for the real thing.  Cadets first tackled rappelling on the wall and those that wished went off the simulated helicopter skid.  Following their rappelling they moved to the zipline for the quick ride down 350 feet.  The weather held out for the day and they were also able to complete the Obstacle  Course and Confidence Course.

Monday for Granbury HS MCJROTC

granbury hs MCJROTCMonday morning saw the Cadets on the Combat Fitness Course in the morning and immediately after lunch they took on the High Ropes Course.  All Cadets successfully completed the course with enough time left in the day to take on the Leadership Reaction Course.  Sprinkled in the weekend they also took on a hike, had time for a bit of Close Order Drill and actually worked in some study hall period to help them keep up with their lessons while on the trip.  The group departed the school bright and early Tuesday morning for the long ride back home with plenty of memories and stories to pass on to their classmates.
