{"id":9441,"date":"2012-11-12T09:31:13","date_gmt":"2012-11-12T15:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.info\/wordpress\/?p=9441"},"modified":"2014-10-16T14:32:24","modified_gmt":"2014-10-16T19:32:24","slug":"rock-climbing-team-news-november-201","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/9441\/rock-climbing-team-news-november-201\/","title":{"rendered":"Rock Climbing Team News: November 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Rock Climbing Team Visits University of Texas, Pan American<\/h1>\n<p><em>Maj Harold Compton<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb1.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9451\" title=\"climb1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb1-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"rock climbing\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb1-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb1.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/Cadet-Life\/Clubs-and-Activities\/Special-Activities\/Climbing\/\">MMA <b>Rock Climbing<\/b><\/a> Team took their first trip of the year on Sunday, 11 November when they traveled to the University of Texas, Pan American to climb on their wall at the <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.utpa.edu\/utpa_main\/dsa_home\/dos_home\/wrsc_home\/wrsc_climbing\">University Wellness Center<\/a>.\u00a0 Six cadets made the trip and they included Cadets Hudson, Banker, Sandford, Rogers, LeMaster and Wu.<\/p>\n<p>For our newer rock climbers this was their first time climbing on anything other than the climbing wall at the Academy and they found the event to be very challenging and fun.\u00a0 The features of this wall pushed them to the limit of their skill and they found that the hours of practice paid off as they took on the various routes.<\/p>\n<p>Initial warmup work on the wall focused on bouldering problems and several were attempted and found to be extremely difficult.\u00a0 Cadet Rogers showed his bouldering skill as he tackled one of the more difficult problems and after several attempts finally succeeded in completing it.<\/p>\n<h2>Rock Climbing Moves to the High Routes<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb4.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9462\" title=\"climb4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb4-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"rock climbing\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb4-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/climb4.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Once all the climbers had a chance to warm up it was time to hit the high routes.\u00a0 The wall at UT Pan Am adds an element of difficulty not found on the MMA wall;
