{"id":8688,"date":"2012-10-23T06:27:42","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T11:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.info\/wordpress\/?p=8688"},"modified":"2014-10-16T15:07:49","modified_gmt":"2014-10-16T20:07:49","slug":"confidence-course-work-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/8688\/confidence-course-work-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Confidence Course Work Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Confidence Course Work Nears Completion<\/h1>\n<p><em>Maj Harold Compton<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-039.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8709\" title=\"Picture 039\" alt=\"confidence course\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-039-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-039-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-039-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-039.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Work on the newest events to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/?p=337\"><b>Confidence Course<\/b>\u00a0<\/a>is nearing completion.\u00a0 We will soon add the Overhead Ladder and two new Medium Hurdles to the <i>Confidence Course<\/i>, bringing the total number of obstacles on the course to sixteen.\u00a0 Work began several weeks ago with the arrival of the 16&#8242; poles.\u00a0 Members of the Rock Climbing Team assisted in setting the poles for the Overhead Ladder.\u00a0 These poles were allowed to settle and the rains we recently received helped in settling them to their final position.\u00a0 The poles have now been cut to the proper length and work will now begin on fabrication of the overhead ladder which will be attached on top of the poles.\u00a0 We hope to have work finished prior to the Thanksgiving Break however, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/Military-Program\/LEAD-Complex\/\"><u>Confidence Course<\/u> <\/a>will not be used until Plebe Training in January to allow <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-1521.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8711\" title=\"Picture 152\" alt=\"confidence course\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-1521-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-1521-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-1521-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-1521.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>the event to settle some more.\u00a0 The end poles will be at a height of 8 feet above the ground with the center poles 10 feet above ground.\u00a0 Participants will hang from the overhead ladder and move upward,\u00a0 hand over hand and then back down to the far end.\u00a0 A step up will be added to one of the lanes for small cadets to be able to reach the overhead ladder.<\/p>\n<h2>Confidence Course Medium Hurdles<\/h2>\n<p>The other two events added to the Confidence Course were two Medium Hurdles.\u00a0 These hurdles will be at a height of 48 inches and will require the cadets to climb up and over them.\u00a0 Poles were set on these events at the beginning of last week and after settling the top poles were cut and attached as shown <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-150.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8716\" title=\"Picture 150\" alt=\"confidence course\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-150-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-150-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-150-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Picture-150.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>in the photo.\u00a0\u00a0 One of the hurdles was added just after the Run, Jump and Swing and the other just prior to the Tough One.\u00a0 As the course challenges the cadets upper body strength, these events will further tax their already tired bodies.\u00a0 These two hurdles will also not be used until Plebe Training to allow them to settle further.
