{"id":848,"date":"2012-01-11T15:21:32","date_gmt":"2012-01-11T21:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/?p=848"},"modified":"2015-03-20T12:53:04","modified_gmt":"2015-03-20T17:53:04","slug":"marine-military-academy-technology-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/848\/marine-military-academy-technology-improvements\/","title":{"rendered":"Marine Military Academy Technology Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Technology in the Classroom<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/documentcamera1.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-910\" title=\"documentcamera\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/documentcamera1-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"technology\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/documentcamera1-300x270.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/documentcamera1.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This year, a number of additions and improvements in the area of Information <b>Technology<\/b> have been completed to\u00a0benefit cadet learning.\u00a0 MMA boasts three computer labs in\u00a0the Foreign Language department with a total of 55 computers available using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tellmemore.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tell Me More<\/a> language program.\u00a0\u00a0 There are two computer labs in\u00a0the General Services\u00a0department for use in the Computer Science and Keyboarding classrooms.\u00a0 These two labs have a total of 35 computers for cadet use.\u00a0 The Keyboarding classroom also supports the Yearbook staff with additional programs and Internet access for yearbook publication.\u00a0This summer, MMA\u00a0completed the installation of\u00a0six new computers in the Chemistry lab and\u00a0five\u00a0in the Physics labs.\u00a0 The SAT Prep classroom has 15 computers for cadets to work on the online ACT and SAT programs to prepare them for taking the tests.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the Academy added 5 video editing computers in its new Cinematography Arts class.\u00a0 MMA feels strongly that graduates should have a strong background in <i>technology<\/i> to be successful in college as well as their careers.<\/p>\n<h2>Additional Technology Support for Cadets<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/computerscience1.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-911\" title=\"computerscience\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/computerscience1-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"technology\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/computerscience1-300x270.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/computerscience1.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Marine Military Academy has a number of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">technology<\/span> assets to assist cadets, including a College Placement Room with\u00a0five computers for online college applications.\u00a0\u00a0 Cadets use these computers throughout the day under the supervision of the College Placement counselor.\u00a0 MMA also has 47 computers in the library for cadets to do online research via the Internet.\u00a0Of these computers, 35 also have Microsoft Office software for cadets to work on homework and projects.<\/p>\n<p>Marine Military Academy recently installed 25 computers,\u00a0five\u00a0in\u00a0every barrack\u00a0study room, that have the same Internet access and Microsoft Office software as the library computers.
