{"id":810,"date":"2012-01-12T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T16:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/?p=810"},"modified":"2014-10-16T15:39:48","modified_gmt":"2014-10-16T20:39:48","slug":"activities-part-iii-weightlifting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/810\/activities-part-iii-weightlifting\/","title":{"rendered":"Activities: Part III Weightlifting"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Marine Military Academy Weightlifting<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/weightlifting.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-819\" title=\"weightlifting\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/weightlifting-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"weightlifting\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/weightlifting-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/weightlifting.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Those cadets that are not inclined to team sports or other activities but whose interested are more toward physical fitness may choose to sign up for the <b>weightlifting<\/b> activity.\u00a0 The activity is currently run by GySgt Martinez and can handle approximately 50 cadets each day.\u00a0 Each company is given a quota of the number of cadets that can take <i>weightlifting<\/i> due to the limits of the gym.\u00a0 Preference is normally given to junior and seniors but underclassmen may take the activity if space is available.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0Weightlifting Gym<\/h2>\n<p>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">weightlifting<\/span> gym is located next to the baseball field and houses various stations throughout the entire gym.\u00a0 These include free weights,\u00a0 pullup bars, situp stations and\u00a0universal exercise machines.\u00a0 Cadets conduct weightlifting exercises in a planned sequence designed to maximize the workout.\u00a0\u00a0 It is a self paced program, but Cadets are expected to stay busy and are not allowed to simply waste their time while in the gym.\u00a0\u00a0They are closely supervised to ensure they get the most out of the time allowed and they are using the equipment in a safe manner.\u00a0\u00a0 The normal schedule is Monday through Friday for about an hour, some days more time is allotted. \u00a0Instruction consists of the basics of weight lifting form and safety.\u00a0 Cadets establish their own weight lifting program and in self-selected teams move around the &#8220;gym&#8221;
