Scuba Program at Marine Military Academy<\/h1>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Summer Scuba Program<\/h2>\n

\"scuba<\/a>The scuba certification classes offered during the 2012 MMA Summer Camp were a great success. There were three weekly classes with six students in each class.\u00a0 Scuba students were given academic instruction ranging from equipment use to \u00a0laws of physics pertaining to diving. Skills and safety training were taught in the MMA pool before heading out to the Gulf of Mexico for the open water dive.\u00a0 The Scuba Program<\/b> is taught my the Academy Assistant Dean, Joseph Palamara, a certified Scuba Diving Internation\u00a0instructor.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"scuba<\/a>Following all of their training in our pool, the students were taken to a working oil rig eleven miles off shore from South Padre Island where at approximately fifty feet they saw a fascinating and colorful array of hundreds of different types of fish.\u00a0 Among the fish the students observed were Angel fish, Trigger fish, Sheepshead, Kingfish and even several King Barracuda!<\/p>\n

Scuba Program Awards Certifications<\/h2>\n

All the campers who participated in the Summer Scuba Program<\/i> received life-time open water certifications from Scuba Diving International. The following are the names of the campers that received their certification cards:<\/p>\n

Jordan Arthur,\u00a0Luke Fisher,\u00a0\u00a0Matthew Miller, Connor Barkhouse,\u00a0 Colin Freeh,\u00a0 Aza Morrison, Lars Berggren,\u00a0William Hickey,\u00a0Alexander Skinner, Richard Bloch,\u00a0 Adam Hujair,\u00a0William Welch, Matthew Devall,Jonathan Hurley,\u00a0Matthew Dorris,\u00a0 Calvin Mashek, Jordan Ellis and\u00a0Wilson Miles.<\/p>\n

The Marine Military Academy Scuba Program<\/u> already has a number of cadets signed up for\u00a0the scuba program during the fall semester.\u00a0 Check back later for an update on their progress.<\/p>\n
