Harold Compton<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1969.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4736\" title=\"IMG_1969\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1969-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1969-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1969-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1969.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/Military-Program\/LEAD-Complex\/\">Marine Military Academy <b>LEAD Complex<\/b> <\/a>got its first full use of some of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/?p=4414\">new events <\/a>on Friday, 1 June when the Army JROTC Unit from Valley View High School visited the <i>LEAD Complex<\/i> for a full day of fun and challenges.\u00a0 Forty cadets took on a number of the\u00a0courses which included the newest events that were added to the <u>LEAD Complex<\/u> in preparation for the Academy&#8217;s upcoming summer camp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Valley View takes on LEAD Complex Courses<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1981.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4739\" title=\"IMG_1981\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1981-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1981-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1981-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1981.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The cadets first took on the LEAD Complex\u00a0Obstacle Course as a warm up for the day&#8217;s events.\u00a0 Following a demonstration and walk through the cadets gave the course their all as they tackled the obstacles.\u00a0 Several cadets showed that they had what it takes to fly through the course but all gave it their best.\u00a0 Several cadets were so pumped up that they were willing to take it on a second time and several challenges were issued.\u00a0 The runs were fast and furious and all came away a bit tired but ready for the next event.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/?p=337\">Confidence Course <\/a>was the next event on their schedule and it proved to be most challenging.\u00a0 A real test of upper\u00a0body strength, endurance and technique it pushed the cadets to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2044.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4740\" title=\"IMG_2044\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2044-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2044-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2044-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2044.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>limit.\u00a0 Worn out and exhausted by the course the cadets next tried out some of the low events on the LEAD\u00a0 Complex.<\/p>\n<h2>LEAD Complex Low Events.<\/h2>\n<p>The cadets next took on a few of the LEAD Complex low events with the first being the Twelve Foot Wall.\u00a0 Cadets were broken down into four teams which competed to see which team could negotiate the obstacle fastest.\u00a0\u00a0 All team successfully completed the event and demonstrated excellent teamwork in their efforts.\u00a0 Cadets next moved to the newest event on the LEAD Complex, the Cable Traverse.\u00a0 This event is a 3\/8&#8243; cable suspended 18 inches off the ground, between two telephone poles.\u00a0 Each pole has a rope attached to the top of it for the participant to use for balance; however the ropes only <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1990.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4741\" title=\"IMG_1990\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1990-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1990-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1990-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_1990.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>reach halfway across the cable.\u00a0 Two cadets begin with one at each end of the cable and move toward the center where they must exchange balance ropes and pass each other, ending at the opposite end they started from.\u00a0 This event proved a real challenge and required outstanding balance.\u00a0 Two teams showed that they had what it takes and completed the event without falling.\u00a0 The last low event the cadets attempted was the brand new Tire Swing.\u00a0 In this event cadets must cross a series of tires suspended from a cable about 1 1\/2 feet above the ground.\u00a0 Cadets start from both ends of the course and must pass each other in the middle.\u00a0 The swinging of the tires made this event much harder than it initially appeared but the cadets figured it out quickly and were able to complete the event without too much difficulty.\u00a0 This was the first full test of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4744\" title=\"IMG_2001\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2001-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2001-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2001-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2001.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>LEAD Complex new events and they proved to be a valuable addition to the complex.\u00a0 Following their work on the Tire Swing the cadets took a much needed break for lunch and some much needed rest.<\/p>\n<h3>LEAD Complex Leadership Reaction Course<\/h3>\n<p>Following their meal and rest the Valley View Cadets took on the last LEAD Complex course\u00a0they would tackle by taking on\u00a0four of the problems on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/?p=2580\">Leadership Reaction Course<\/a>.\u00a0 These problems test not only their physical abilities but their problem solving and teamwork abilities.\u00a0 Each problem required the cadets to work together as a team while <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4747\" title=\"IMG_2022\" alt=\"lead complex\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2022-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2022-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2022-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2022.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>completing a team event.\u00a0 The cadets again showed they had what it takes and solved each problem.\u00a0 This completed the cadets on the LEAD Complex and they then moved to their final event of the day which was a welcome break from the heat;
