{"id":349,"date":"2011-12-26T10:09:19","date_gmt":"2011-12-26T16:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/?p=349"},"modified":"2018-01-05T16:02:06","modified_gmt":"2018-01-05T22:02:06","slug":"leadership-enhancement-and-development-complex-part-v","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/349\/leadership-enhancement-and-development-complex-part-v\/","title":{"rendered":"LEAD Complex: Part V, Ropes Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>LEAD Complex Ropes Course<\/h1>\n<p><em>Maj Harold Compton<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Ropes Course Operation<\/h3>\n<p>The Marine Military Academy <b>Ropes Course<\/b> was begun in 2000 with the construction of the first<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/highcrse.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-350\" title=\"highcrse\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/highcrse-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ropes course\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/highcrse-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/highcrse.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> series of high elements.\u00a0 Work on this section of the course was completed in time for use during Summer Camp 2000.\u00a0 The second high element section and the low element were constructed the following year in time for Summer Camp 2001.\u00a0 The <i>ropes course<\/i> is a series of 23 low and high events testing strength, stamina, teamwork and helping overcome fear of heights.\u00a0 High elements are an individual test for each participant while most of the low elements are team eventsrequiring the participants to overcome some problem while working as a team.\u00a0 To supplement the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ropes course<\/span> a series of ground elements were also constructed that are all team oriented.\u00a0 These include the Tank Walk, A-Frame \u00a0Shuffle,\u00a0 Landing Pads and the most popular of all events, the 350 foot long zipline.\u00a0 These events are used during the Summer Camp Crucible each year.<\/p>\n<p>The ropes course is run under the supervision of certified Academy instructors that have completed<br \/>\nthe Boy Scout COPE (Challenging Opportunities for Personal Experience) course.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/powerpole.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-351\" title=\"powerpole\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/powerpole-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ropes course\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/powerpole-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/powerpole.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 The ropes\u00a0course contains an element that challenges most participant\u2019s fear of heights more than any other;
