{"id":1637,"date":"2012-01-21T19:23:32","date_gmt":"2012-01-22T01:23:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/?p=1637"},"modified":"2014-10-16T15:16:25","modified_gmt":"2014-10-16T20:16:25","slug":"marine-military-academy-plebes-training-on-back-40-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/1637\/marine-military-academy-plebes-training-on-back-40-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Plebe Training, Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Marine Military Academy Plebe Training<\/h1>\n<p><em>Maj Harold Compton<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1645\" title=\"ropes1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"plebe training\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>On Saturday, 21 January <b>plebe training<\/b> continued on the Back 40 with the plebes taking on the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/?p=349\">High Ropes Course<\/a>, Circuit Course and Leadership Reaction Course.\u00a0 The plebe first took on the High Ropes Course which included the Heebie Jeebie, the Pipe Dreams, the Raider Bridge and last but not least the infamous Power Pole.\u00a0 Winds were not too bad so the plebes pressed through the events, finding that their confidence,\u00a0while being suspended on a cable 20 feet above the ground, grew with each step until the reached the end of the course and had to face the Power Pole.\u00a0 Nothing they had done previously in <i>plebe training<\/i> had prepared them for what they\u00a0now faced.\u00a0 Each plebe had to climb to the top of a 20 foot telephone pole and stand up on the top of it which measures just 8\u00a0inches <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1646\" title=\"ropes2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes2-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"plebe training\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ropes2.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>in diameter.\u00a0 They then had to summon the courage to dive\u00a0out and attempt to strike a rubber bouy suspended 9 feet in front of them.\u00a0 They were then caught by a safety line and lowered to the ground.\u00a0\u00a0 Even plebes that had watched a dozen ahead of them do it successfully found themself hesitant when they stood on the\u00a0top of the pole.\u00a0 In the end they all\u00a0completed the\u00a0ropes course and moved on to the rest of the <u>plebe training<\/u> events for the day.<\/p>\n<h2>Plebe Training on the Circuit Course<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/circuit24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1678\" title=\"circuit2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/circuit24-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"plebe training\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/circuit24-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/circuit24.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Following completion of the ropes course the plebe training took on the final two events of the day;
