The MMA Color Guard\u00a0opened the ceremony with the Presentation of Colors. The MMA cadets also closed the ceremony by unveiling the\u00a0highway sign\u00a0honoring the late mayor of Harlingen.<\/p>\n<h2>Col. Bill Card, Jr. Boulevard<\/h2>\n<p>The leg of Loop 499 that runs from Highway 77 to County Road 106 is now officially named Colonel <i>Bill Card<\/i>, Jr. Boulevard. Suitably named, the road runs past Marine Military Academy, Valley International Airport and Texas State Technical College, all institutions <u>Bill Card<\/u> was directly involved <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/unveiling.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1431\" title=\"unveiling\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/unveiling-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"bill card\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/unveiling-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/unveiling.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>with.<\/p>\n<h3>Col Bill Card Service to Harlingen<\/h3>\n<p>Col. H. William \u201cBill\u201d Card, Jr., who passed away on July 18, 2010, was the mayor of Harlingen from 1987 to 1998. Prior to becoming a prominent banker and civil servant in the Harlingen community, Card worked at Marine Military Academy from 1968 to 1975 as the Commandant of Cadets, Senior Marine Instructor and Director of Development.
