\u00a0Next is the horizontal stabilizer and elevator. \u00a0So you got the stabilizer both the horizontal and vertical stabilizer.\u00a0 And again you want to check the condition of the leading edge on both of them.\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure they are free from anything that&#8217;s going to disruptively affect the airflow on them \u00a0so you want to make sure it&#8217;s nice and clean just like it is right now.<\/p>\n<p>This is the flying portion of our aerospace program.\u00a0 It consists of both classroom time and time in the air. \u00a0What you see behind us here is a <a href=\"http:\/\/redhawk.redbirdflight.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Redbird Cessna 172<\/a>\u00a0being refurbished with a Redbird whole new avionics package, \u00a0new engine package, all kinds of new upgrades.\u00a0 \u00a0The other portion of our aerospace program takes place in the classroom in Blaschke Hall where we have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redbirdflightsimulations.com\/fmx\/?__hstc=71320972.bae326faf97f622874fc77208bea05a7.1413928681550.1413928681550.1414591102102.2&amp;__hssc=71320972.2.1414591102102&amp;__hsfp=2454739221\" target=\"_blank\">full-motion flight simulator from Redbird<\/a>, as well as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redbirdflightsimulations.com\/td2\/?__hstc=71320972.bae326faf97f622874fc77208bea05a7.1413928681550.1413928681550.1414591102102.2&amp;__hssc=71320972.3.1414591102102&amp;__hsfp=2454739221\" target=\"_blank\">desktop flight simulator<\/a> and we&#8217;re both currently enrolled in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/Academics\/Curriculum\/Flight-Training\/\" target=\"_blank\">ground school<\/a>, which we are taking sixth period as in the extra class.\u00a0 And, it means a lot to me as I always wanted to be a pilot every since I was a little kid I have been very interested in aviation, and it feels good to be a part of it.<\/p>\n<p>Every since I was little I wanted to be a pilot.\u00a0 I remember when I was ten years old I used to always go to this store and buy the new simulators that came out.\u00a0 And then I bought \u00a0an actual moving chair, and I like it \u00a0I enjoyed always flying simulators and now that I have the opportunity to fly I&#8217;m really happy about it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12767\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12767\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/fuelCheck1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12767\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/fuelCheck1-300x186.png\" alt=\"pre-flight fuel sample\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/fuelCheck1-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/fuelCheck1.png 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12767\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Instructor from the flight training program demonstrates how to evaluate a fuel sample.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That\u2019s enough.\u00a0 You want to check the condition, should be clear because this is jet fuel so we got clear there&#8217;s nothing floating around in there. There\u2019s no water nothing in there.\u00a0 This came out right from the fuel sample there.<\/p>\n<p>But as we turn on the engine basically what we are looking for is to make sure that everything is in the green.\u00a0 If not we will see something red and that will get our attention, and we will try to fix the problem or deal with that as we need to.\u00a0\u00a0 This is a very, very user-friendly system and it\u2019s a very safe airplane because of that.\u00a0 You\u2019re not doing any extra work.<\/p>\n<p>Good afternoon, my name is Mitri Garib one of the flight instructors at the Marine military Academy I teach both the flight instruction and the CP six what they call it which is the class period six the aerospace program.\u00a0 It&#8217;s basically set up in three parts.\u00a0 One of them is a classroom environment.\u00a0 The second one is that full-motion simulator that we use and the third part is actually getting in the airplane and going flying.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Everything within the program is set so that these students can get the most out of the time that they&#8217;re here at the end of the program.\u00a0 Get their certification as private pilots.\u00a0 Now we will be adding commercial and adding instrument pilots at a later time.\u00a0 But as far as right now this is what we have set up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12768\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12768\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cadetRedhawk.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cadetRedhawk-300x191.png\" alt=\"Cadet Dickerson stands next to the Redhawk Cessna 172\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cadetRedhawk-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/www.mma-tx.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cadetRedhawk.png 729w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12768\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cadet Dickerson stands next to the Redhawk Cessna 172<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All right so today is when the fun happens.\u00a0 We finally get to come out to the airport and fly as you can see.\u00a0 We just completed our pre-flight inspection with our flight instructor over there making sure the aircraft is airworthy and ready to fly.\u00a0\u00a0 Pretty shortly here we will be getting in the airplane and go fly.\u00a0 I think we are going to stay inside the pattern here in Harlingen.\u00a0 This is what you get to work for.\u00a0 Everything that you learn in the ground school course makes sense as soon as you get in the airplane.\u00a0 When it is in the classroom it is just a bunch of words, but when you come out here it&#8217;s translated into reality.<\/p>\n<p>Before starting the airplane so will do this one first.\u00a0 We will start from here, we&#8217;ll just call it complete.\u00a0 And then when we do turn it on we will just go start the engine.\u00a0 Pre-flight inspection complete, crew and passenger briefing complete, seats and seat belts adjust and lock, put mine on too.\u00a0 Seat locks engaged, cabin door is closed and locked.\u00a0 Ok, I will close mine as we leave.\u00a0 Brakes, set and test they are there. Circuit breakers, circuit breakers are all in.\u00a0 Right here we have a line of circuit breakers and you got some more here and those are all set. \u00a0Flight area? Looks clear make sure that there is no one out there. Looks clear. All right engine master. Engine master on.\u00a0\u00a0 Wait for that glow plug.\u00a0 That glow plug is going to light up. There it is.\u00a0 Wait until it extinguishes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That\u2019s what it says here, extinguish.\u00a0 Flight control lamp extinguish. There it goes. Preline check is complete.\u00a0 Lights on.
