Marine Military Academy Boxing Program 2012-13

The Marine Military Academy boxing program is underway for the 2012-13 season.  SgtMaj Robertson is again heading up the coaching duties with Sgt. Elizondo assisting.  This will be SgtMaj. Robertson’s 23rd season as head coach and he is looking forward to a very successful season.  Last year, SgtMaj Robertson and Sgt Elizondo shared recognition at the 2012 RGV Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament as Outstanding Coach. This year, they are starting the year with over 20 cadets signed up for boxing.  This includes five returning from last year’s team.

Returning Cadets for MMA Boxing

This year, the boxing team is fortunate to have Cadets Bruno Lopez Alverez, Alex Robertson, Meng Yu Wang and Conner Perley return for another season.  Cadet Bruno Lopez Alverez of Mexico City place first in the Junior Middleweight 156 class last year and Cadet Alex Robertson placed second in the Middleweight 165 class.  With the experience returning this season the team is excited about this season and hopes to do even better.

 Boxing Schedule 2012-13

The Leathernecks Boxing Team plans to participate in two to three boxing tournaments throughout the season, building up to the Regional Golden Gloves Tournament in February 2013.  Exact dates for the earlier tournaments have not been determined but will be posted as soon as they are finalized.
