Boy Scout Troop 22 News: Andrew Hodge Eagle Scout Project

Eagle Scout News

eagle scoutLife Scout Andrew Hodge recently took charge and completed an impressive Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project at La Posada Providencia, in San Benito, Texas. As part of his project, he undertook the challenging task of fundraising to support the project and the facility financially. He was very successful. After covering project material costs, he awarded a generous check in the amount of $530 to Sister Zita Telcamp, program director, for use in day-to-day operations. Accompanying Sister Zita is Ms. Debbie Grayson, President of the La Posada Board of Directors. The ladies were MOST appreciative of the efforts put forth by Cadet Hodge! He has demonstrated keen Scouting leadership by example throughout his entire project. Andrew is fully expected to pass a board of review later this month and earn the lifetime title of Eagle Scout.

Eagle Scout Support to La Posada Providencia

La Posada Providencia is sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence. It is a ministry for people in crisis from around the world. They provide a temporary residence and shelter for refugees and immigrants with immigration documents who are in the legal process of entering the United States. The facility accepts documented refugees only. This includes homeless men, women and children with no or minimal income who have fled to the U.S. from countries with oppressive regimes, famine, or natural disasters and are seeking asylum or other permanent residency. The shelter staff provides a safe and welcoming home; mentors to promote self-sufficiency and cultural integration, and imparts American values.  They also provide language and job skills training. Sister Zita Telcamp is the program director.
