MMA salutes the Class of 2015

MMA Graduates 2015

Fifty-one young men walked the stage at the 49th Annual MMA Commencement Exercises on May 23 in Yeckel auditorium. Richard Farr of Schertz, Texas, was the valedictorian for the Class of 2015, and Irvin Ie of Temple City, Calif., was the salutatorian.

Director of Marine Corps Junior ROTC Col Robert G. Oltman, USMC (Ret), was the guest speaker. Col Oltman gave the cadets four rules to never forget:
1) Never forget God. “Keep the focus on him, and we’ll be blessed and strengthened beyond our beliefs,” Col Oltman said.
2) Don’t forget your core values. “Never forget what they mean (honor, courage, and commitment) and how you apply them in your daily life,” he said.
3) Never forget that it’s O.K. to fail. “Our failures define us more than our successes,” Col Oltman said. “ It’s the lessons that we learn that help us to be successful.”
4) Never forget the true meaning of success. “It’s not what you accumulate,” he said. “It’s what you do with what you accumulate.”

After listening to powerful speeches by the valedictorian, salutatorian, and guest speaker, the 51 seniors were awarded their high school diploma. The event concluded with the traditional tossing of the covers.
