MMA throws 51st Birthday Ball

Family members, friends and alumni celebrated with the Marine Military Academy Corps of Cadets at the 51st Birthday Ball Oct. 29.

Per tradition, the 51st Birthday Ball cake was carried in by the cadet battalion staff and then sliced by Superintendent Col R. Glenn Hill. The first piece of cake was served to Guest of Honor Oscar Cuellar, Class of 1994; and the second piece was served to MMA’s youngest cadet eighth-grader Andres Uribe Murillo of Mexico City.

The mother-and-son dance immediately followed the ceremony and kicked off the dancing and “OOH-RAH!” for the rest of the evening.

Each year, this formal event celebrates MMA’s birthday (Sept. 9, 1965) and the Marine Corps birthday (Nov. 10, 1775.) As MMA turns 51, the Marine Corps turns 241 years old.
