Leadership Quotes for Growth

Major General LukemanBrain Food for Leaders:
MajGen James Lukeman gives young leaders quotes for growth

Leadership is NOT a position, according to MajGen James Lukeman, Commanding General of Training and Education Command for the Marine Corps.

“Leadership is what you do and how you act,” he said. “Leaders have the right habits of daily activity.”

When MajGen Lukeman presented to the Marine Military Academy cadets, he explained to them that leadership is built on smart habits, honor and action — practiced daily.

“Live life every day the right way. When things get tough, character carries you through it,” he said.

MajGen Lukeman also left the young leaders with eight powerful quotes to help them develop into true leaders.

  • The relation between officers and enlisted men should in no sense be that of superior and inferior nor that of master and servant, but rather that of teacher and scholar. Gen. John A. Lejeune
  • Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. – Vince Lombardi
  • The only battle we fight is for the trust and affection of our men. They win the rest.
  • Be honest. Do the right thing – always. Leaders provide the moral compass.
  • Treat every Marine or Sailor as if he is the one who will save your life.
