Marine Military Academy Cyber Patriot Team in Rounds 1 and 2

Marine Military Academy Cyber Patriot Team did an outstanding job on the second round competition placing among the top 10 in a field of more than 800 teams in the all service division. MMA’s score tied for first in the Marine Division; which qualifies us for the semi-final round. Team members include the following cadets: Team Captain Kyle Rogers, Class Leader Jose Rodriguez, Dylan Che, Daniil Murashov, Drew Hopkins, Obiajulu Ezenwabachili and Coach/instructor William Beckman.
Cyber Patriot Team Preparation
The Cyber Patriot team meets after school Monday through Friday for 25 minutes a day. So, far the Cadets have worked on Windows servers 2003 & 2008, Windows workstations XP, Vista and 7 pro. In this next round, we will work with both Ubuntu Linux and Windows operating systems. Currently we are studying Ubuntu; which is a totally different from Windows. Last year, a single point deficiency in Ubuntu vulnerabilities kept the team from advancing to the finals.
Upcoming Cyber Patriot Round
The next Cyber Patriot round of the competition will be held on January 12, 2012. The cadets will leave for Christmas break on December 21, 2012 and return early from vacation, on January 11th , to give them a day before the semi-final round to get ready.
Wish them luck I know they can do it. I’m very proud of them they have done an outstanding job thus far.
