Q: Does MMA accept international students?
Absolutely. MMA enrolls students who are not U.S. citizens. In fact, boys from all over the world attend MMA!
Q: Does MMA have additional application requirements for international students?
All applicants, U.S. and non-U.S., complete the same application and are reviewed in the same manner.
An I-20, however, is required for international students to study in the U.S. MMA will process the I-20 (F1 VISA) for accepted students.
Q: How do I get the I-20 (F1 VISA) to enroll my son at MMA?
The I-20 is processed by the Admissions department once an international student has been accepted for academic enrollment.
Notification of acceptance will be determined once all the required application material has been received and reviewed. Normally, you will be notified within 48 to 72 hours after MMA receives all required material.
Q: Does MMA have a minimum TOEFL score requirement?
No. MMA does not admit international students based on their Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. MMA reviews all applicants on an individual basis throughout the application process. Therefore, MMA does not require a minimum TOEFL score.
If your son has taken the TOEFL, provide the score to help MMA measure his level of English proficiency.
Q: Are there extra fees for international students?
Yes, once your son has been accepted for academic enrollment, there is a I-901 Sevis fee of $350.00 due. This is a government mandated fee (not an MMA fee). This fee is collected by MMA as a courtesy. MMA prepares the I-901 Sevis receipt and the I-20 (F1 VISA) documentation that is required in order to schedule a consulate appointment for your government’s approval.
There is also a one-time international student fee of $1,000.00 that is collected when tuition is due. The I-901 Sevis fee of $350.00 will be credited against the one-time international student fee. ($1,000.00 - $350.00 = $650.00)
Q: My son has been accepted to MMA but has an I-20 on file with another U.S. school. What must I do?
The Admissions department will provide parents/guardians with an acceptance letter. This letter needs to be given to your son's current school. The current school will send an I-20 "transfer out" to MMA.
Q: What happens if an international student withdraws from MMA?
MMA will wait 10 days before cancelling the I-20 in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The 10 days allows parents to provide MMA information about the school to which the student will transfer.
If you do not provide the "transfer to school" information to MMA within the 10-day period, the I-20 will be cancelled.
Q: What happens if an international student is dismissed from MMA?
MMA will immediately cancel the I-20 on the day he departs the campus.
Q: Does my son need an I-20 to attend MMA Summer Camp or ESL Summer Camp?
No. Your son only needs a tourist VISA to attend either four-week program.
