VISA

MMA is one of the charter members of the Valley Independent Sports Association (VISA) league, which was founded in 1979. VISA provides MMA's eighth graders the opportunity to participate in a competitive league program. This league is made up of small non-public schools located in the Rio Grande Valley. The schools compete against each other in various sports such as volleyball, basketball, softball and track.
Objectives of the league are to teach an understanding of the various athletic events, to foster an appreciation for athletic competition, to develop basic and advanced skills in each sport, and to practice good sportsmanship.
MMA's facilities are so good that the Academy now hosts annual tournaments (or meets) for each sport. Not only does this expose our campus and facilities to many outsiders, but these events provide an important community service in which a good number of our Cadets (in addition to VISA Cadets) can participate. |
