Six MMA cadets recently earned their private pilot certificate on Jan. 10, making it the largest group of cadets to ever earn their private pilot certificate at the same time.
For the first time, the CyberPatriot team at MMA will advance to the CyberPatriot national championship. The team, known as the Devil Dogs, will head to National Harbor, Md., to compete against 13 other schools March 14-16.

MMA will host its Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. on the MMA Parade Grounds. Veterans from all branches are encouraged to attend, as they will be honored at the event and asked to join the MMA superintendent for the pass in review. MMA’s battalion-size parades are always held in front of the historic Iwo Jima Monument, a symbol of American pride for veterans, Marines and civilians.
Beginning Thursday, Nov. 1, parents from around the world will gather at MMA for Parent's Weekend 2012. Held each year, Parent's Weekend is a time for parents to visit their sons and witness their personal growth and/or success at MMA.
Former NFL player Rich Garza spoke to the MMA Corps of Cadets on Oct. 9 in Yeckel Auditorium. Garza, an offensive lineman who played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos in the early 1980s, told the cadets to make positive life choices.

Senior Nicholas Hamblin of San Antonio will have his poem, “He Walks in the Darkness but Never Alone,” published in a student poetry book. Published by The America Library of Poetry, the book titled “Talented” is to be released in early December.
MMA checked in 206 cadets the weekend of August 11 and 12, officially kicking off the 2012-13 school year. The cadets – who come from 27 states and nine countries – will begin school on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
MMA graduated a record high of 360 summer campers at the MMA Summer Camp Parade and Graduation Ceremony on July 28. Accordingly, a record crowd of at least 700 people, mostly parents and siblings, came to Harlingen to watch the campers graduate from their four-week journey.
To help preserve memories for campers and parents alike, MMA staff took hundreds of photos and tried to capture as many campers as possible.
