Who We Are

“Any genuine teaching will result, if successful, in someone's knowing how to bring about a better condition of things than existed earlier.”
John Dewey, Leading Philosopher and Educational Theorist

“How can we help students to understand that the tragedy of life is not death; the tragedy is to die with commitments undefined and convictions undeclared and service unfulfilled?”
Vachel Lindsay, Poet and Idealist

There is nothing so important and necessary to the future of our country than the development of ethical, moral, educated citizens. Regardless of economic collapse, war, disease or natural disaster, our country survives because its citizens shrug off their burdens and begin again. America is not a piece of land, nor is it an economic or political structure. America is its people.

The Marine Military Academy maintains the tradition of the United States Marine Corps coupled with a superb educational environment to develop morally strong, ethical, educated young men. Whether in the classroom, chapel, sporting events or strenuous physical exercises, our students constantly receive disciplined, structured training; ethical, moral and spiritual philosophy, and programs designed to develop courage, character and leadership.

MMA is a College Preparatory school, but we do more than prepare our students for four to six years of college. MMA prepares our students for Life. Whether it is in business, education, in the service of their Country, in the laboratories, or the arts, a young man matriculating from MMA has all the tools, physical, mental and spiritual, to meet life and succeed.

“The task of the excellent teacher is to stimulate "apparently ordinary" people to unusual effort. The tough problem is not in identifying winners: it is in making winners out of ordinary people.”
K. Patricia Cross, Professor Emerita of Higher Education at the University of California-Berkeley

“What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to an human soul.“
Joseph Addison, 1711, English Essayist, Poet, & Politician
