What We Do

"The value of MMA is found in the combined service provided by all departments. The team approach exemplified at MMA creates what I believe is a truly unique and highly successful environment for the development of leaders and scholars out of young men that have potential but, often times, an apathetic attitude towards success. Athletics, academics, military, and the entire staff work to provide a balanced and enriching environment that demands the best from each and every cadet"
Dr. John Butler, Dean of Academics

The Marine Military Academy is dedicated to developing cadets that possess the full range of academic skills, personal values, social adjustment and physical development to be successful in whatever field of endeavor they choose. The school aims to provide a wholesome, patriotic, and invigorating atmosphere, both mentally and physically, in which students are inspired towards maximum achievement. To this aim, the Academy supports the development of cadets in three areas:

Academic excellence is, and always will be, the first priority. The Academy provides a full range of courses supported by a first rate faculty to ensure that our graduates are fully prepared to move on to the university or college of their choice. Additionally the Academy stresses the development of personal values such as courage, self-discipline, responsibility, character, leadership and esprit de corps and a strong devotion to country. Lastly, the Academy provides a vigorous fitness program made up of athletics and activities to develop the physical fitness of all Cadets.

Cadets are provided positive examples of these values and principles on a daily basis by the staff and faculty while at the same time they are removed from the distractions of a negative nature that flood students today. Additionally, cadets are provided with many opportunities for community service through clubs such as Rotary Interact, Key Club, and Boy Scouts of America.

MMA is not for everyone. It is not an alternative for juvenile detention or students who are involved with juvenile authorities. It is a structured, disciplined, and motivating environment where the staff expects the best effort from every cadet. Some may ask, "Why do most young men attend MMA"?. A better question might be "What kind of young man graduates from MMA?". The Marine Military Academy is not easy; however, cadets learn that they are capable of achieving results they previously thought unattainable and that those things most valuable in life are rarely cheap or easy.

"Certainly the academic standards achieved at MMA speak for themselves. Cadets here are immersed in the rigors of the "three r's" and then some. They receive top-notch preparation for the academic rigors of college. But, beyond academics - and of equal value and importance - Cadets here receive the preparation and guidance necessary to go forward in life with a sense of direction and purpose - and the self-discipline, confidence and integrity needed to achieve their objectives honestly."
