Marine Military Academy is an all boys boarding school offering college preparatory and Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps programs to boys in grades 8 through 12 and a postgraduate year. The campus is located in Harlingen, Texas, population 80,650, in the lower Rio Grande Valley, and is a 45-minute drive from South Padre Island. The city is accessible by car via US Routes 77, 83, and 281, and by air via major airlines.

The Academy was founded in 1965 by Captain William A. Gary, businessman and retired Marine Corps Reservist, who believed that Marine Corps concepts of leadership and discipline were adaptable to preparatory school education. In 1965, he and other former Marine officers opened a school in Harlingen, when a former US Air Force Base became available. The school aims to provide a wholesome, patriotic, and invigorating atmosphere in which students are inspired towards maximum achievement. Academic excellence is the first priority while also stressing the development of character, leadership and esprit de corps and a strong devotion to country, through values and principles derived from the U. S. Marine Corps and a vigorous athletic program.

Marine Military Academy is a nonprofit corporation governed by a Board of Trustees. The school has over 2000 alumni who assist in recruiting, development of school programs and fund raising.

The Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It holds membership in the Southern Association of Independent Schools, the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, and the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States.
