General Services Department
Focus
The General Services Department was created in 1996 to provide organization for those classes that fall outside the realm of traditional department headings. Courses are offered in Keyboarding, Computer Science, Business Computer Applications, Business Computer Information Systems I, Health, Desktop Publishing, Band, Music Appreciation, Art Photography, and SAT Preparation. In addition, a two-year aerospace program leads to the achievement of a pilot's license. Members of this department are heavily involved in individualized instruction, often tailoring a specific program for one Cadet. Most instruction also involves hands-on experiences and provides opportunities for creative expression. In some cases, Cadets take part in setting up their own programs by analyzing their own strengths and weaknesses and regularly conferencing with their teacher for guidance. The General Services Department is dedicated to providing Cadets with high quality instruction and experiences that complement the traditional education provided by the other academic departments.
